India – Is it really that good?
I am very happy that I’m an Indian, and so is everyone else. We have a huge population that is spread over and is extremely diverse, so there is a varied skill and tradition mix. We have had great leaders, sports-persons, businessmen, scientists, engineers, doctors, etc. People from all fields have excelled around the world and made a mark of our country. Every year the stats for the richest include more Indians, and the number of “billionaire-Indians” is growing rapidly. Everyone knows the potential we have in the IT Industry and how well we are doing in that area – I don’t need to elaborate on that.
Having said all these rosy things about India, I wonder whether we actually are a great country? I mean that’s what everyone feels and that’s what everyone says – India is the best! Is it so? I think India is the best for Indians because we stay here, this is our land and it was snatched away by the Englishmen and now that we have got it back we feel a sense of pride to be an Indian. What I mean to say is that India is mighty well good for us Indians, but it’s not the best – we need to work hard to achieve that.
The Americans are more diverse that us geographically, the Europeans have more number of billionaires, the Japanese & Germans have better engineers, the Australians are better in all sports that India plays. Come on where is India in the world?? Its not standing tall, and I’m sorry to say that, we need to work hard and we will be there, but we are not there yet. That’s the point.
We need to “Chak de India”.

100% vote to this…even i think india stands no where..yahooooo!!!
India jagoo
I think, We all are using our best efforts to do our job. Everyone is trying to be better day by day in his/her field. Even, illeterate people are doing better in their field, then why we are lagging behind?
Think!!!!
I think india lacks proper utilisation of resources, which is the responsibility of our govt. So friends go ahead and choose the govt. who really want “Chak de India”.
@ Monto – what should we choose from? Congress & BJP both are chor-gundas, thats why I dont vote, I want to vote, but whom to? I dont see any proper party in India, atleast now.
hey i liked yours too, you are absolutely right India stands no where
Have a look around your neighbourhood Assem and you will know where India stands. Burma,Bangladesh,Pakistan,Afghanistan,Nepal,Shrilanka;they they are still fighting for their freedom of speech. With a growing economy and democracy everything will gradually fall in place
You are right Assem, but I dont understand one thing. You said US is more diverse than us geographically, this is true but India is also very diverse geographically if you think about it, also India’s land area is less than that of the US. But India is much more diverse than the US culturally.
Yes I agree & that’s what I said in the start of the post.. India is diverse but we Indians tend to exaggerate. Yes we are having many languages and that we r culturally diverse, but then diverse hoke apna kya fayda?? Are we progressing because of the diversity.. Infact no cos South Indians dnt speak Hindi, Maharashtra is not a safe place for North Indians, & God knows how many more problems exist in India.. we aren’t a great country anymore.
Hmmm … Assem we are also diverse because we are multi-religious. How would you feel if I (a member of the Hindu majority) said ‘diverse hoke apna kya fayda’, in the context of religion ? Every cultural group has some to contribute to the world, be it Urdu speaking Muslim, Tamil speaking Christian or Manipuri Hindu. Stable cultures take hundreds of years to develop and diversity enriches us. We should not see it from the view of profit.
Unity in diversity makes sense.. but just being diverse & yet underdeveloped & poor doesnt help India
